Mike Clines

In his tenure as State Representative, Mike Clines has proven to be a common-sense, conservative leader for Campbell County. Representative Clines is known for utilizing his many leadership experiences to build relationships, to get things done, and to improve the quality of life in his lifelong home, Campbell County.

Strong Seat at the Table for Campbell County

  • Representative Mike Clines has worked with some of the most challenging and largest organizations in Kentucky, demonstrating his capability to foster communication and collaboration and to drive progress. He was chosen for the Twelfth Cohort of the Hunt-Kean Leadership Fellows – the prestigious fellowship program of the Hunt Institute, a nonpartisan organization, where he represents District 68 and the Commonwealth of KY on a national level.

Business-Driven Republican

  • Mike Clines has been honored with awards and accolades from high-profile groups for his business-friendly and economic policies. He received the Champion for Signature Industries Award in 2023 on behalf of Kentucky industry leaders and a Perfect Score on Pro-Business Issues by the KY Chamber of Commerce (2023, 2024, 2025).

Focused on Education

  • Mike Clines is currently the vice chair of the House Primary and Secondary Education Committee and has received the endorsement from the Kentucky Education Association (KEA) for his success supporting teachers. He was also awarded the 2024 Ft. Thomas Independent Schools Tradition of Excellence Award and the 2024 Education Legacy Award by the Northern Kentucky Educational Council for his career successes as a professional educator and for his positive impact on the education community.

Our Healthcare Champion

  • Mike Clines led the charge on the 2024 Autism in Education Taskforce (HCR 51), which helped bring awareness to the issues and challenges of the autism spectrum disorder community. In addition, Mike was the primary sponsor on legislation (HB 361), which helps to retain quality healthcare professionals thus providing top-quality care to Kentuckians across the Commonwealth. As a result, he was named the 2024 KY Academy of Physician Assistants’ Advocate of the Year.
A Background in Education & Community Service

A Background in Education & Community Service

A professional educator for over 27 years, Mike Clines worked hard to make a positive difference in the six counties that make up the Northern Kentucky school communities. Mike served in numerous leadership positions throughout his career in education.

While working for the Diocese of Covington’s School System, Mike spent 12 years in the Department of Catholic Schools, serving as assistant superintendent and superintendent of schools. Mike also served at Covington Catholic High School for 15 years, serving for a time as principal, guidance counselor, and teacher.

Mike’s many roles have also included: Track and Field Head Coach, Community Service Coordinator, Assistant Athletic Director, Intramural Basketball League Coordinator, and a 9th Region Basketball Official.

Mike currently volunteers as a Board member for the meetNKY Board of Directors, and the Xavier University School of Education Advisory Board. He is a council member on the Educate NKY Advisory Council. Mike previously served as Chair of the Kentucky ACT State Organization, as a Board member on the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control, as a board member for Northern Kentucky University’s Go Norse Fund and as President of the St. Joseph Booster Organization.

Mike lives in Alexandria with his wife, Tammy, a public elementary school librarian, and their three sons.

Growing Up in Campbell County

Mike Clines’ parents, Bob and Rosemary Clines, raised him along with his three siblings in southern Campbell County. The county is important to their family as many generations have spent their lives and raised their families here.

Mike’s grandparents, Joseph and Bertha Schafer Heringer, were farmers and lifelong residents of Campbell County. In fact, as early as 1901, Mike’s great grandfather, Joseph Heringer, was a well-known person in the region. He was the first President of the Campbell County Farmers Fire Insurance Company, as well as Company Director and Secretary of the Bank of Alexandria, first President of the Four Mile and Twelve Mile Turnpike Company, sole owner of the Grant’s Lick and Old State Road Turnpike, and Deputy County Clerk.

Mike Clines attended Grant’s Lick Elementary School, St. Mary Elementary School and Bishop Brossart High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Northern Kentucky University and a Master of Educational Administration from the University of Cincinnati. Mike is also a KY licensed agent for property and casualty insurance.
